Carpet Cleaning in Woking - Domestic and Commercial
A secondary consideration when chosing a carpet ?
The choice of carpets is a very personal one, and there are many factors to take into consideration, but often the least important factor taken into consideration when chosing your floor covering is how to clean your carpets and maintenance of them after they have been laid. Often the choice of carpet comes down to colour and budget, but within those tight parameters, and perhaps outside if your carpet budget permits, are the following:
Fibres – wool, other natural fibre, synthetics or a mix
Carpets are constructed from a variety of fibres, including synthetic nylons, polyesters, olefins, as well as natural fibres such as wool, sisal , jute, and seagrass. Each different fibre requires a different approach to cleaning, and the more expensive the carpet fibre, the more specialist becomes the cleaning approach - one size does not fit all.
Construction – woven, tufted, flocked
The fibers are affected by several elements including how the yarn is processed, the size of the yarn, and the tensile strength of the yarn.
Woven carpets such as Axminster, and Wilton are constructed largely from wool or a wool blend. The carpets are formed in a similar way to the traditional carpet manufacturing method using a loom with the carpet fibers woven into the backing which produces a strong durable product which can last up to three times longer than a tufted carpet.
Tufted carpets are manufactured like a sandwhich, the face yarns are stitched onto a primary backing. The cut or looped yarn pokes through this backing to which is bonded a secondary backing
Flocked flooring (such a Flotex) are particularly suited to commercial environments where durability and high traffic are key factors. The surface pile is constructed from upright nylon fibres on an impermeable PVC backing
Whatever type of carpet construction you have chosen for your floor covering in your property in Woking, Scimitar Carpets will assess and recommend the appropriate carpet cleaning approach which is suited to that method.
Annual professional carpet cleanings, as well as cleanings when necessary to manage large stains or high-traffic areas will maintain the life of your carpet.
